Farm House History and Restoration

It is believed that Brown and Emeline Young built the house in 1845 when they were married, and the land was given to them.  We know from his father’s will, that that they were living in the house at the time of Archibald’s death.

In 2001, exterior and interior measurements of the house were taken, and a set of scaled drawings was developed.  In 2012, the house underwent a restoration project. The floors were sanded and refinished; walls and ceilings repainted; a full bathroom and a half bath were added, as well as a new heating and air conditioning system.  The original “ice house” at the rear is in good condition and is still being used today.

The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Blue Grass Trust and Historic Sites in Kentucky.
